December was a fun month full of Christmas preparations and celebrations. We enjoyed our very tall tree from the Boy Scouts and had the opportunity to get out all of our ornaments. The house was quite festive. We also enjoyed Christmas parties with Robert’s office and Corinne’s playgroup friends. We also made Christmas cookies and Robert and Corinne decorated a gingerbread house – a first for both of them!
Corinne chatted with Santa at our new mall on base. She told him she wanted “a lot of toys”. I think he got the message. Santa wanted to hug Mom and Dad too. He was a ripe, jolly, old elf.
For Christmas Davina’s parents and sister Gloria came to visit. Corinne entertained them to no end. It was a good thing there were three of them! We had a nice visit. We went to Mass on Christmas Eve and then came home to get ready for Santa. Poor Corinne was so excited she had trouble getting to sleep. We all slept in Christmas morning. Corinne wouldn’t come out of her room until she was sure Santa was gone...because she did not want to be awake when he arrived and thus go onto the next house. She thoroughly enjoyed passing out and opening presents...and playing with each one before handing out the next one. It was fun to watch. We took it easy the rest of the day.
The day after Christmas we hosted a Christmas dinner to include cousin Kelly and Marian (her boyfriend), our friend Father Dave and his friend Father Steve, and the rest of us already at the house. Robert outdid himself in the cooking and baking. We enjoyed a full dinner with ham and lasagna, pumpkin and apple pie, and two flavors of homemade ice cream. No one went hungry!
Enjoy the photos and videos of the festivities!
