Once we landed in Dayton, Ohio, Robert’s parents picked us up at the airport and we walked out into good old summertime heat and humidity. We stayed with his parents at a local hotel during our stay. The next day we gathered at Davina’s aunts’ house (Aunt Vivien and Aunt Carol) for a University of Dayton reunion. We were 16 adults and 12 kids. Davina’s aunts hosted a wonderful afternoon of good food, good conversation, and good water fun outside since it was so hot. We really enjoyed seeing our family and friends and spending time together reminiscing about the “old days”.
During the next three days we spent time with Robert’s brother Don and his family. Don and Ann’s four daughters stayed with us at the hotel so the fun never ended! We went to the local YMCA pool one afternoon and tried to dodge the thunder and lightning. Robert also had a good run with his brother and his two older nieces Emily and Jessica. It was a tight race. We also went to a soccer scrimmage for Hannah. Finally, we played lots of games inside to stay cool in the air-conditioning.
On the last day we also visited Davina’s aunts again and enjoyed a nice meal at The Winds in Yellow Springs. Afterwards we returned to their house and Corinne found the feather duster and tidied up a bit while we took a look at photos on our web page.
It was a great visit to Dayton and after our time there we packed up and headed to Roanoke, Virginia with Robert’s parents to visit Robert’s sister Amie and her family.
