After a short 9 hour drive from Dayton we arrived in Roanoke at Robert’s sister’s house and happily said hello to everyone. The next day while Mike and Amie were at work we spent the days with their three sons. Robert and his dad took the two older boys Josh and Ryan to school to meet their teachers and drop off their school supplies. They also did some shopping for someone’s birthday …

On Saturday we enjoyed a nice meal at a local family-style restaurant. It was located on a beautiful farm in a renovated farm house. Everyone ate their fill of fried-chicken and biscuits – along with cobbler for dessert. After dinner we had some good old-fashioned fun bowling. The kids did much better than the adults. It was embarrassing. Maybe the adults should have had the bumpers up too. After bowling, we went back to the house and had a big birthday party for Ryan – age 8 – and Davina – age 38 – complete with presents, cake, and ice cream.

Sunday – our last full day there – we enjoyed time at the pool. Corinne really enjoyed playing with her dad, grandma, and cousins. We also visited the famous Roanoke Star high above Roanoke. There were great views of the city and a fun new playground too.
We enjoyed a great visit to Roanoke and next we were off to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
