The story of Dominic's birth .... Dominic's due date of June 3rd came and went with no sign of any action.  With Robert home on his 2-week family reintegration time we just stayed put and didn't venture too far off base.  Robert spent the time building a network server.  Corinne and Faelynn just enjoyed playing all over the house.  Davina relaxed and rested up for the big event.  Each day came and went with no sign of a baby coming.

On Saturday, June 9th there was still nothing happening.  Robert went grocery shopping to stock up.  Davina chatted with her dad on the phone that afternoon.  After Robert came home with the groceries Davina started to feel a little something and decided to lie on the couch.  As she rested she felt something unusual -- her water had broken.  Robert planned a quick trip to Lowe's, but hadn't left yet - thank goodness!  Davina said it was time to go.  The neighbors were called to come over and take care of Corinne and Faelynn.  Robert & Davina, thinking there was plenty of time until the actual birth, started to straighten up the house and put things away.  Davina sensed things were moving and changed clothes and told Robert she would be waiting in the car as she headed to the car.  Robert joined her and they had a swift ride to the hospital.

They arrived around 4:45PM at the hospital.  Davina was placed in an evaluation room.  As she lay there she started feeling stronger contractions.  A few glances at the clock showed they were 7 minutes, then 5 minutes, then 4 minutes apart, then that's the last time Davina cared about the clock.  The nurse saw things were moving fast and that Davina and Robert needed to get to a labor and delivery room.  Davina was given the option of waiting for a wheelchair or walking across the hallway immediately.  Davina opted to make a run for it between contractions - what a sight that must have been!  Once settled in the bed Davina's contractions were coming fast and she was soon ready to push.  She pushed and pushed and then right at the end there was a little vacuum assist.  At 7:13PM (about 2 1/2 hours after she arrived) Dominic Sebastian was born.  He was big and beautiful - everything in the right places.  Davina commented that it was still daylight outside and that she had only missed one meal and no nights of sleep (yet!).

Dominic is a blessed addition to the Gill Family.  Corinne and Faelynn were very excited about the baby coming and him being born.  They haven't slowed down on their love yet.
