We kicked off December with a visit to our friends the McCalls in Fayetteville, Arkansas. They moved to Arkansas from Missouri in July. We were there to celebrate their daughter Aleksie's Confirmation. Davina was asked to be her sponsor. We enjoyed unseasonably warm weather and spent time by the lake behind their house. The girls enjoyed seeing the geese and ducks. Fortunately no one went in for an accidental swim...except for Rob's foot. Next up in December there was Parent Watch Week at the girls' dance school. The parents were invited into the dance rooms to watch their children. It was fun to see how much progress Corinne and Faelynn have made since August. They both love to dance. Corinne is learning hip-hop, ballet, jazz, and tap. Faelynn is learning ballet and tap. Dominic is along for the ride for now. We are looking forward to the recital in June!

During Advent and the Christmas season we enjoyed many traditions - baking and decorating cookies, making candy, putting together Advent wreaths, decorating the house, and, most importantly, eating cookies! Our friend Chip from the North Pole was here to watch the children during the day and report back to Santa at night. The girls liked talking to him and giving him messages to pass along to Santa. While the wait was too long to see Santa at Bass Pro Shops (over 6 hours), there was time to ride the carousel. Even the weather was a little bit wintry right before Christmas. Corinne and Faelynn bundled up and headed outside to enjoy a few inches of snow. They didn't last too long because the wind was very strong, but they made the best of it.

During school in December we studied the continent of Africa. So there is a picture of Corinne with her salt dough map of Africa. Now we know the Sahara from the savannah. We also studied life in a pond and made a pond scene. It was fun!
