In February we took a five day trip to Berlin.  It was cold and snowy so we were quite bundled up.  We flew to Berlin and took the subway around the city.  We arrived late the first night and walked from the subway station through heavy snow to find a nice, warm, welcoming hotel.  Our room was surprisingly spacious.  What a treat!

For the next four days we toured all over the city.  We spent much time walking along parts of the Berlin Wall and visiting Checkpoint Charlie.  What an incredible history – a city divided – separating neighbors and families.  The heroic stories of successful and unsuccessful attempts to cross from one side to the other were moving.  We also visited the historic Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Airlift memorial, and Berlin Zoo.  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Berlin.
