For our last trip of the year we spent three nights in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany. Rothenburg is a medieval walled city that dates back to the 900s. We have been there several times before, but never together at Christmas time. Our hotel was inside of the wall so we were able to easily walk everywhere. The city was all lit up with lights and Christmas trees. There was a Christmas market too with little booths selling food, goodies, and gluhwein (a hot spiced wine). With the addition of snow, it was a picture perfect setting. We also spent a bit of time in the Christmas stores, warming up and stocking up on German decorations. As the days went by, it felt colder and colder outside. It wasn’t until we left that we saw the temperature was 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Brrrrrr! Robert’s cousin Kelly and her boyfriend joined us on our last brisk day...unfortunately we did not get any photos of them. It was a great last trip of the year!
